Accommodation & Facilities

The aim of the PRRCFI is to provide community-based alternative livelihood income opportunities in nature-tourism. Thus wherever possible, the ground services provided to your group will be facilitated by the community cooperatives of Bulata Village.

Danjugan Island can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 32 persons. Facilities at Danjugan Island are ‘native’, rustic and basic, and wherever possible, also environmentally-friendly. These include:

Shared dormitory-style sleeping accommodation. Mattresses, linens, pillows, towels and insect nets will be provided.

Eco-cabanas. There are 5 eco-cabanas in the island. Each cabana can accommodate between 4-8 people.

Communal shower and toilet blocks, including state-of-art environmentally-friendly waterless composting toilets. Water for showering and drinking is barged in daily through a community cooperative scheme. Guests are asked only to use environmentally-friendly toiletries and respect the need for fresh-water conservation.

Meals. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments will be served communally, based on local cuisine and seasonally-available local produce, and wherever possible, provided directly by the host-community of Bulata (vegetarian meal options will be made available upon request).

Electricity for lighting is a mix of solar and/or wind co-generation. Please note that battery-charging facilities may not be available on the island but can be arranged at the mainland community of Bulata.

Laundry services. These are offered by local cooperatives at a very nominal charge.

Bar facilities. The sale of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages will be made available throughout your stay.

For scuba divers, tanks and weight belts will be provided. A limited stock of BCD’s and regulators may also be made available for hire. See Island Activities section for rates.

Families with young children are actively encouraged. However, given the relatively remote location of Danjugan Island, the minimum age of children accompanied by parents/guardians permitted to visit Danjugan is 3 years of age. Optional day-care child minding services are available (please call for further details).

Communication: Cell-phone coverage is available on Danjugan.
